100 years of Scouting ~ 2007

Year 2007 will mark 100 years of Scouting. The first Scout camp was run in 1907 by Baden Powell, on Brownsea Island.

At present, there are over 28 million scouts, youth and adults, in 216 countries and territories in the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

By 2007, it is estimated that over 500 million women and men from most of the countries and cultures in the world will have pledged to live by the Scout Promise and Law.

Centenary Theme
The single theme for all events and activities for the Centenary of Scouting, and the 21st World Scout Jamboree is:

2007: One World One Promise

This theme corresponds closely to young people's aspirations, to the mission of the Movement, the common values and education system of Scouting everywhere, and expresses our targets for the future.
